Beautiful City

Friday June 13, 2014 – 8:00pm; Saturday June 14, 2014 – 3:00pm and 8:00pm – Nickel Theatre, Mount Royal University

“Out of the ruin and rubble”; this opening lyric from “Beautiful City” captures the overarching theme behind the music and dance that was part of this performance.

This collaborative performance adventure – featuring choreography by Paul Chambers and a cast of dancers – journeyed through images of destruction and ruin into the hope and perseverance that rise to the surface when we choose to confront challenges head on.

 

Invictus

Friday May 9, 2014 – 8:00pm, St. Mary’s Cathedral

The Calgary Men’s Chorus were guest of Mount Royal Kantorei for this concert.  This choral concert explores the relationship between poetry and music by featuring compositions whose texts inspired composers with their power, lyricism and beauty. Central to the performance is Joshua Rist’s setting of William Ernest Henley’s famous poem, Invictus, a poem said to have inspired Nelson Mandela during his imprisonment.

 

Ottawa Bound!

Saturday May 3, 2014 – 8:00pm, Christ Church Elbow Park

One Voice Chorus, the Calgary Men’s Chorus, and the BarberEllas prepared to take the nation’s capital by storm at the 2014 Unison queer choir festival! The Ottawa Bound! concert showcased the music that each ensemble sang at the Unison festival in Ottawa during the May long weekend.

 

Don’t Be Afraid

Saturday April 26, 2014 – 7:00pm, Knox Presbyterian Church

Benefit Concert and Forum as a part of the Don’t Be Afraid campaign.  Featuring the Calgary Men’s Chorus, yhe choirs of Knox Presbyterian Church and St Matthew’s United Church, Soprano Laura McLean, and Soprano Janice Marple. Seasons of Light

Thursday November 21 and Saturday November 23, 2013, Jack Singer Concert Hall

The glamour, glitz and bright lights of Broadway are celebrated with popular musical standards including West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Cats, Chicago, Les Misérables and Mamma Mia!, performed by current Broadway stars!
